City of Vancouver, WA, Sewer Connection Incentive Program

The city of Vancouver, WA, has been in the center of modernization and expansion in the past years in the Pacific Northwest. The city saw growth in population resulting in a large amount of new developments. Suburban areas now became more connected to the city with new roads, new neighborhoods, new shopping plazas, and schools. Due to this growth, the city of Vancouver began to offer and encourage homes that were equipped with a septic wastewater management system to directly plug into the city's sewer. With the city of Vancouver, WA, Sewer Connection Incentive Program, availability and affordability became the key factors in determining whether to stay with a septic system or to upgrade the home with a direct line to the sewer.

Septic systems have for years been the only solution for homes that were built on the outskirts of the city without immediate access to city's sewer lines. Although properly designed, installed, and maintained septic systems can serve for long periods of times without any problems, they can become a hassle to manage or to deal with if they were poorly designed, if the installation process wasn't carefully planned, or the system was recklessly installed. Problems on such installments can come with floods or heavy storms. Smaller septic systems might not be able to handle the heavy loads of draining water causing some of its wastewater to arise to the surface. The user also takes the responsibility of preventing system backups by managing the contents of toilet flushes. This can become a problem with infants or children uncontrollably flushing unwanted items. With a direct line to the city's sewer, the city takes full responsibility of maintaining the wastewater, from the flush to the water that is being released into the ground. This is beneficial to the environment as well. Malfunctioning septic systems compromise the availability of clean drinking water by increasing the concentration of bacteria and viruses. In addition, mosquito breeding areas with faulty septic systems nearby provide a perfect source for diseases carried by mosquitoes. By connecting to the city's sewer, threats to human health like these can be decreased if not eliminated.

The city of Vancouver, WA, Sewer Connection Incentive Program provides many homes with current septic system installments an opportunity to make a direct connection to the city's sewer eliminating environmental septic system drawbacks and the burden to continually maintain the system. In many cases, homes can easily be connected to the sewer; however, if your home needs certain plumbing modifications, our list of certified contractors can make the needed changes in an affordable, yet quality way for us to complete the connection. Don't hesitate to contact us for more information. We are looking forward to hear from you with your questions about upgrading your current septic system.
